“Dance Dance Revolution!” is the title for the first performance of the year for the University of Nebraska at Kearney Symphonic Band, which is scheduled for Thursday, March 31.
The performance, which is free and open to the public, will be at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Recital Hall in the UNK Fine Arts Building.
Under the direction of Dr. Michael Beard, UNK assistant professor of music, the band will perform “Xerxes,” “Albanian Dance,” “Russian Sailor’s Dance,” “Sword Dance” and many more.
“We will be presenting dance music from the Shakers to Spain and destinations along the way,” Dr. Beard said. “The audience will enjoy familiar melodies transcribed from the orchestral world, as well as, traditional folk music.” The UNK Symphonic Band is an instrumental ensemble open to all UNK students.
