“Bad Love,” a poetry reading with Sigma Tau Delta, will be presented at the University of Nebraska at Kearney Frank House on Saturday, Feb. 19.
The poetry reading will begin at 1:30 p.m., at the historic mansion, which is located on the UNK West Campus. The program is free and open to the public; however, donations to the Frank House are always accepted.
According to Sarah Jones, director of the Frank House, members of Sigma Tau Delta, the English honor society, will give oral interpretations of “…cliché love poems, anti-love poetry, and cheesy love lyrics from rock and pop ballads.”
“Sigma Tau Delta had an event at the Frank House in the fall, and they enjoyed it so much they wanted to come back and participate in a spring event,” Jones said.
According to the president of Sigma Tau Delta, Celeste Lempke of Wallace, the poetry will be a mix of everything including classic Shakespeare, rock ballads, pop songs and original poetry by the members of Sigma Tau Delta.
“We wanted to something non-traditional for the unrequited lovers out there,” Lempke said.
“Bad Love” is one in a series of Saturdays at the Frank House presentations. For more information on Saturdays at the Frank House events visit: www.unk.edu/offices/frankhouse.
