UNK-“Finding New Meaning as the Road Bends” is the focus of a pre-retirement and retirement seminar being presented in both Kearney and Grand Island this spring.
“Most employers provide helpful information to retirees on money matters,” Dr. Paul Welter, a workshop presenter. “This workshop aims to help participants decide how to spend their time in the most meaningful ways. The targeted age group is 55 and older. However, there is no upper limit on age. Precocious people who may be somewhat younger are also welcome.”
The seminar will be presented at the Ockinga Seminar Center, located on the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus, Saturday, April 29, and at College Park in Grand Island on Friday, May 5. The seminar will be presented from 9:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fee for the seminar is $60, which includes lunch and materials. To register, call 308/865-8508 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
The seminar is a cooperative presentation of The Learning Edge, a series of personal and professional development seminars offered through the UNK Division of Continuing Education and the UNK Department of Counseling and School Psychology.
Presenters are Bill Coleman of Aurora and Dr. Welter of Kearney. Coleman maintains a counseling practice and conducts a variety of seminars for 55+, parents, teens, couples and counselors. Dr. Welter is the author of Counseling and the Search for Meaning and How to Help a Friend. He has led 75 seminars in the past 15 years on “Rediscovering Meaning in the Workplace.” In addition, he has a radio program, “Learning From Children,” that airs twice a week on stations in the Midwest.
