UNK– The history of the University of Nebraska at Kearney will be the focus of the Saturdays at the Frank House presentation this weekend.
The History of UNK presentation will begin at 1:30 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 20) at the Frank House, which is located on the UNK West Campus.
Jim Rundstrom, former UNK Alumni Association director, will present the lecture, which covers UNK from its founding in 1905 to today.
“The Frank House is an integral part of the UNK community and inviting Mr. Rundstrom to present helps to emphasize our commitment to serving the UNK faculty, staff and students,” said Sarah Jones, UNK Frank House director.
“The Frank House is an important academic resource on our campus, and this presentation is part of our mission to establish ourselves as such,” she said. “Knowing the history of the university helps to create a sense of community among students, faculty, staff and alumni.”
“The story behind how UNK came to exist here in Kearney tells a lot about the persistence of our early leaders, who realized how important a college would be to our city and region,” said Lucas Dart, UNK Alumni Association director. “Now that the campus has been here for 105 years and matured so nicely, it’s important to look back and understand all that’s gone into it. It’s something that each student and alumnus ought to know about, because there is a lot to be proud of.”
The History of UNK is one in a series of Saturdays at the Frank House” presentations. The event is free and open to the public; however, donations to the Frank House are always accepted.
