Dr. Nanette Hogg
associate professor of communication, 308.865.1574
UNK– Students in Mass Media (SIMM), the mass communications honor society, has inducted two members and elected officers at the University of Nebraska at Kearney this past month.
To be nominated for membership in the honor society, students must be sophomores or above in class standing, maintain a 3.2 overall grade point average, be working toward a major or minor in a mass communication field and be a full-time student.
According to Dr. Nanette Hogg, SIMM faculty adviser, the goals of SIMM are to provide its members with experiences they may encounter in their future careers, to build their resumes and to meet with career professionals to learn more about the career they are pursuing.
SIMM provides the community and campus with service and opportunities not available without the sponsorship of the organization. SIMM members participate in several community service projects including The Big Event, Early Awareness Day and Christmas gift wrapping for the Salvation Army.
