UNK– Jillian Parker, a music theater major who has appeared in numerous productions on the campus, will present a 3 p.m. recital in the University of Nebraska at Kearney Fine Arts Recital Hall on Sunday, March 28.
A mezzo-soprano, Parker studies voice with Dr. Sharon Campbell, a UNK assistant professor in the UNK Department of Music and Performing Arts. Parker will be accompanied on piano by Todd Thalken of Kearney.
Her recital will include a variety of selections from the classics to show tunes. Among the selections are “Als Luise Die Briefe Ihres Ungetreuen” by Mozart, “Lachen and Weinen” by Schubert, “Immer Leiser Wird mein Schlunmer” by Brahms, “Que fais-tu, blanche tourterelle” by Gounod, “Sure on This Shining Night” and “The Crucifixion” by Barber, and “Quando men vo” by Puccini.
Selections from musicals will include “Mister Snow” from “Carousel,” “Patterns” from “Closer Than Ever,” “Stars and the Moon” from “Songs for a New World,” and “Not for the Life of Me” and “Gimmie Gimmie” from “Thoroughly Modern Millie.” On one selection, “If Momma was married” from the musical “Gypsy,” she will be joined by Amy Jensen of Kearney.Jensen is also a mezzo-soprano.
Parker is the daughter of Geralyn and Lauren Parker of Goodland, Kan.
