The University of Nebraska at Kearney Forensics Team placed second out of 17 competitors at a tournament on the Creighton University campus last weekend.
In addition, the team qualified for the American Forensics Association National Individual Events Tournament, which will take place in Mankato, Minn., April 5-9.
“Last season, this was an accomplishment we celebrated in January,” said Rachelle Kamrath, UNK director of Forensics. “It is an outstanding feat to qualify so early in the season.”
Grant Campbell of Tecumseh qualified in Communication Analysis, and Jacob Enzminger of Columbus qualified in Dramatic Interpretation.
“We finished second of 17 schools, surpassed only by Western Kentucky University,” Kamrath said. “Although our team is barely one year old, we defeated much larger, historically tough teams.”
Individual finishes in the Creighton University tournament were as follows:
– Kenny Hopkinson of North Platte was the Tournament Champion in Communication Analysis, and placed third in After-Dinner Speaking and fourth in Duo Interpretation.
– Grant Campbell of Tecumseh placed second overall in individual speaking points for the tournament, second in Communication Analysis, fourth in Duo Interpretation and fifth in Prose Interpretation.
– Jacob Enzminger of Columbus placed second in Dramatic Interpretation and Second in Duo Interpretation.
– Blake Thompson of Dalton placed second in Duo Interpretation, third in Impromptu Speaking and fifth in After-Dinner Speaking.
– Brandon Pettigrew of Kearney placed second in Informative Speaking and second in Persuasive Speaking.
