The University of Nebraska at Kearney Reynolds Writers & Readers Series will present a poetry reading by Terrance Hayes at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at the Museum of Nebraska Art (MONA).
       
Born in Columbia, S.C., Hayes is an associate professor of Creative Writing at Carnegie Mellon University and is on the faculty at the Stonecoast MFA low residency program. He is the author of Hip Logic, a National Poetry Series selection, and Muscular Music,  which won the Kate Tufts Discovery Award and Whiting Emerging Writers Award. His third book, Wind in a Box, will be released this spring.
       
Hayes’ work has appeared in many anthologies of emerging writers, including American Poetry: The Next Generation and Giant Steps: The New Generation ofAfrican American Writers.  His work has also appeared in journals such as Fence,Harvard Review, Ploughshares and The Southern Review .
