KEARNEY – Enjoy Japanese cuisine and culture this weekend at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

The Japanese Association at Kearney (JAK) is hosting its 24th annual Japanese Festival on Saturday in the Nebraskan Student Union Ponderosa Room on campus. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the event begins at 6 p.m. There is no cost to attend.

This year’s event celebrates the Heisei era (1989-2019), a pivotal period in Japan’s contemporary history that symbolizes continued peace and prosperity.

The Japanese Festival includes food, student performances, interactive exhibits, fun quizzes and other engaging activities.

JAK is a UNK organization open to any student interested in promoting or learning more about Japan. Hundreds of people attend the group’s Japanese Festival each year, making it one of the most popular international events on campus.
