EVENT TITLE: “Instagram Man and Five Other Life Choices”
PRESENTER: UNK philosophy professor Gene Fendt
ABOUT: This lecture will start from a story about love in Plato’s “Symposium,” which presents six different stages of love. Each of these stages defines a way of life, a possible life choice. The lecture will illustrate how Western culture has actuated each of these life choices in several ways throughout history, ending with the present: Instagram Man. While the lecture will refer to various philosophers along the way, it will not be an academic presentation, but one which gives pictures of wide cultural application to each of the choices. A question-and-answer period will follow.
