KEARNEY – Slade Larscheid, one of four finalists for the University of Nebraska at Kearney athletic director position, will be on campus Tuesday (March 12) to meet with the public and members of the UNK community.

A campus and media forum is scheduled for 3-4 p.m. in the Nebraskan Student Union Antelope Room, followed by a public forum from 6-7 p.m., also in the Antelope Room.

Larscheid has 10-plus years of experience in athletic administration, fundraising, budget management and marketing, most recently at Augustana University (Division II) in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where he served as athletic director from May 2014 to February 2018.

At Augustana, he supervised a staff of more than 70 full- and part-time employees and balanced a $10.3 million annual budget. Augustana athletics generated more than $2.9 million in revenue, including donations, sponsorships, ticket sales, endowed scholarships and special events, in 2017. Larscheid managed a portfolio of 50-plus donors and corporate sponsors and facilitated leaderships gifts ranging from $100,000 to $1 million.

During Larscheid’s tenure, Augustana added women’s swimming – one of the school’s 19 sports – ranked in the top 10 in Division II in men’s and women’s basketball attendance and won 14 conference championships and a men’s basketball national title. The university also completed facility improvements for men’s and women’s basketball, soccer, baseball and softball, wrestling and swimming and rebranded its Augustana A-Club, which had record years in membership, sponsorships and donations, generating more than $1 million.

Augustana implemented a community service initiative for student-athletes under Larscheid’s leadership and added three support staff positions within the athletic department.

Prior to his time at Augustana, Larscheid held positions at South Dakota State University, Northern Illinois University and the University of South Dakota, helping Northern Illinois and South Dakota State generate record donations for their athletic departments. He was also athletic/activities director at Sioux Falls School District.

Larscheid holds a Bachelor of Science in communication studies and Master of Arts in sports administration with a management emphasis from Northwestern University, where he was a member of the Wildcat football team.
