KEARNEY – The University of Nebraska at Kearney is seeking proposals for a new dining services contractor to begin in May 2019.

UNK has partnered with Chartwells, a division of the Compass Group USA Inc., for more than 20 years. Compass Group sought to renegotiate financial terms of the current contract. When those efforts proved unsuccessful, Compass Group terminated the contract on Feb. 13, but will continue to provide service until May 20, 2019.

“UNK is now primarily concerned with ensuring there is no disruption in food service to our students, campus and community,” said Jon Watts, vice chancellor for business and finance. “We are also committed to retaining successful recent additions of Chick-fil-A and Starbucks operations.”

Chartwells informed employees of the situation today. UNK Assistant Vice Chancellor for Communications and Community Relations Kelly Bartling expressed appreciation for Chartwells employees.

“We value these dedicated members of our campus and community and hope they will continue with our new dining services provider,” Bartling said.
