TITLE: “Cancer Survivors Enhancing Health With Exercise, One Step at a Time”

TOPIC: Research tells us that cancer survivors who maintain an active lifestyle are healthier, live longer and suffer fewer symptoms after cancer treatment. But survivors frequently ask, “How do I exercise if I don’t feel good?” Bilek will discuss the specific benefits of exercise for the cancer survivor and offer tips for developing a successful plan to increase physical activity

SPEAKER / PRESENTER: Dr. Laura Bilek is an associate professor in the Division of Physical Therapy in the College of Allied Health Professions at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She also serves as associate dean for research in the College. Her research interest is the effect of exercise on the immune system and on diseases of aging. She is currently a co-principal investigator on a federally-funded research grant, the Heartland Osteoporosis Prevention Study.
