UNK police issue 50 citations as part of selective enforcement

PoliceSirens KEARNEY – Selective enforcement by UNK Police and Parking Services over a recent 18-day period resulted in 50 citations and 55 warnings for alcohol- and drug-related crimes on or near the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus.

UNK officers worked 84 hours of overtime and completed 105 traffic stops as part of the Aug. 21 through Sept. 7 “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign through the Highway Safety Division of the Nebraska State Department of Motor Vehicles.

Enforcement efforts concentrated on violations such as minor in possession, driving under the influence and drug crimes among college students and the general public.

Officers issued citations or arrested 14 individuals for minor in possession, one person for possession of marijuana, one individual for third degree assault, one person for driving under the influence of drugs and one individual for procuring alcohol to a minor.
