KEARNEY – Ninety-eight students have been admitted into University of Nebraska at Kearney’s Honors Program. The Honors Program offers exceptional students the opportunity to excel in academic, leadership and personal development during their undergraduate career.
This four-year program enriches and supplements all academic majors at the university through special classes, an Honors learning community, research projects, study abroad, leadership development, and service learning, according to Honors Program Director John Falconer.
The program is designed for students of high academic abilities and ambitions, offering a challenging experience in the Liberal Arts tradition. Specialized sections of Honors General Studies courses enhance student-faculty interaction, emphasize discussion in a seminar atmosphere, and increase opportunities for intellectual exploration.
First-time freshmen apply to the Honors Program after being admitted to UNK. Honors Program students have an ACT score of 27 or higher, rank in the top 25 percent of their high school class and submit an essay and a letter of recommendation. Honors Program students are eligible for scholarships. In addition, many honors students live in honors housing where they are immersed in a community of students focused on academic success. That residential experience reaffirms the importance of common purpose in the pursuit of excellence, Falconer said. Online custom writing services can be mentioned among them, as they
Transfer students or upperclassmen may apply to join the Honors program.
