Entertainer and master hypnotist Dr. Jim Wand will return to the University of Nebraska at Kearney for the 25th year to amaze audiences with performances at 7 and 9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17.
“Dr. Wand is a natural for the show; he knows how to make the most out of each reaction and situation,” said Tim Danube, associate director of the Nebraskan Student Union. “It’s like ‘America’s Funniest Videos,’ because it’s real and spontaneous, yet not fake or rehearsed.”
The shows will take place in the Nebraskan Student Union Ponderosa Room. Tickets, which are available at the Welcome Desk in the Nebraskan Student Union, are $1 for students with a UNK ID, $2 for high school students, and $5 for the general public.
“Dr. Wand’s talent includes his ability to help audience members, through hypnosis, put aside their inhibitions and behave in way they normally may not to entertain the audience,” Danube said. “He blends motivational messages and entertainment to make each event both educational and entertaining.”
Dr. Wand has worked with such personalities as Jay Leno of the “Tonight Show,” Chris Rock and Carrot Top, along with football players from eight different NFL teams, including the Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers.
Dr. Wand, who holds a Ph.D. in psychology, has been involved in the field of hypnosis for nearly 30 years and has more than 6,000 performances to his credit. He does more than 250 shows each year throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe.
