CENTRAL NEBRASKA BUSINESS IDEA CONTEST FINALISTS TO PRESENT IDEAS ON WEDNESDAY (NOV. 14)

The top 10 finalists in the Central Nebraska Business Idea Contest will present their ideas at KRave Underground in Kearney Wednesday (Nov. 14).

Finalists will be coming from as far east as Weston and as far west as Haigler to take part in the competition. Presentations will begin at 7 p.m. KRave Underground is located at 2202 Central Ave. in downtown Kearney. The event is free and open to the public.

The finalists were asked to submit a two-minute video pitching their idea. The top 10 participants will present their ideas and then take part in a question and answer session.

“The purpose of this event is to support a culture of entrepreneurship in Central Nebraska by providing individuals with invaluable feedback,” said Shawn Kaskie, development director for the Center for Rural Research and Development.

“The crowd will select the ‘best’ and will award first place the $1,000 prize, second place will receive $500, and third place will receive $250,” Kaskie said.

The top 10 finalists and their ideas include Evan Erickson of Grand Island, “Great Outdoor Celebrations”; Andrew Pedersen of Grand Island, “Hazelnut Pilot Project”; Sandy Evans of Haigler, “Bovine Lifeline”; Chaney Black of Kearney, “Two Rivers Storage”; Tyler Clifford of Kearney, “Alcohol Detector”; Michael Meyer of Kearney, “Benefit Houdini”; Dr. Sri Seshadri of Kearney, “Hotel Cosmos in the Sandhills of Nebraska”; Sam Widger of Kearney, “Inspire”; Steve Wahls of Loomis, “Lawn Debbi”; and Vincent Tesinsky of Weston, “Double Up Feeder.”

The event is jointly sponsored by the Economic Development Council of Buffalo County, Invest Nebraska Corporation – Lincoln, and the Center for Research and Development in the UNK College of Business and Technology.
