The Bruner Hall of Science planetarium at the University of Nebraska at Kearney will be presenting the “Night Sky Sampler” on Friday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m.
The show is free and open to the public. However, any donation of dry or canned goods for a local food pantry will be accepted. Tickets are free and will be handed out at the door on a first-come, first-served basis.
The show will give the audience a tour of the current sky, highlighting bright stars, constellations, planets and other points of interest. Each show will have an associated theme that connects the sights together, making them easier for the audience to remember and find on their own.
UNK planetarium shows take place at 7 p.m. on the first Friday of each month. An encore show will begin at 8 p.m. if there is an overflow of attendance for the first show.
Reservations are not available for public shows, and children must be five years of age or older to attend. Also, no food or drinks are allowed inside planetarium. Once a show has begun, no one will be admitted to the planetarium, and anyone who leaves during a show will not be re-admitted.
The UNK Department of Physics and Physical Science also presents educational shows to school groups and private organizations at no charge during the fall and spring semesters at UNK.
