The Residence Hall Association (RHA) at the University of Nebraska at Kearney will host a pumpkin carving contest on Wednesday, Oct. 24.

The contest, which is free and open to the public, will take place in the Nebraskan Student Union Cedar Room from 7-9 p.m.

“RHA will be providing pumpkins for the first 20 attendees,” said RHA programming chair Ellie Heath of Rushville. “After the first 20, it will be up to attendees to bring their own pumpkins. This is the first pumpkin carving contest that RHA is doing ever!”

According to Heath, contestants will have the choice to paint or carve their pumpkins.

“The pumpkins will be judged on four categories: scariest, most creative, most ‘Lopertastic’ and over-all best pumpkin,” Heath said.
