University of Nebraska at Kearney officials today announced that the contract with Follett Higher Education Group for the lease and operation of the Antelope Bookstore on the UNK campus will be terminated, effective Wednesday, Feb. 29.

The lease, now in its third year, is being terminated by mutual agreement based on financial considerations. The Antelope Bookstore is located in the Nebraskan Student Union.

“Consistent with the Follett Values and our reputation in the industry, you can expect Follett to continue to provide great service to the UNK campus community and fully cooperate with the successor operator through transition,” said Bruce Snyder, Follett’s vice president of marketing for the Central Region.

According to Jon Watts, UNK assistant director of Business Services, the only difference in service will be that students will not be able to rent textbooks for the spring semester; however, new, used and e-books will be available for purchase as usual.
