Approximately 40 employers and six graduate schools have already indicated that they will participate in the spring Career Fair set for Wednesday, Feb. 23, at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

The Career Fair, which is free and open to the general public as well as to UNK students and alumni, gives attendees the opportunity to meet and talk with potential future employers.

The event is sponsored by the UNK Academic and Career Services offices and will take place from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Nebraskan Student Union Ponderosa Room. After 2 p.m., there will be an opportunity for full job interviews with some participating organizations.

“For students getting ready to go out on the job search, this is one more opportunity to contact employers who are looking to hire,” said Mary Daake, director of UNK Academic and Career Services.

A list of employers participating in the Career Fair can be found on the UNK Career Services website, along with a description and link to each company website: (http://www.unk.edu/offices/ACS/Career_Services)

“We also have volunteer opportunities at the Career Fair for those students who aren’t quite looking for a job just yet, so they can make contacts for down the road,” Daake said, adding that attendees are encouraged to dress professionally and have a resume available to give to potential employers.

A pre-fair reception will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22, at the Alumni House, located on at 2222 Ninth Ave. Participants will have an opportunity to network with potential employers during the reception. Also, participants may arrive at the Alumni House at 4 p.m. to practice networking skills before the event begins at 5 p.m.

While advance registration is not necessary to participate in the Career Fair, the Academic and Career Services Office has requested advance registration by Friday, Feb. 18, for the pre-fair reception. Individuals can register to attend the reception by calling 308.865.8501.
