‘Merry Tuba Christmas’ set for Saturday, Dec. 4, at UNK

UNK– “Merry Tuba Christmas,” a low brass concert featuring more than 60 euphonium and tuba players of all ages from throughout the region, will be held at the University of Nebraska at Kearney on Saturday, Dec. 4.

The concert, which is free and open to the public, will begin at noon in the Fine Arts Recital Hall, which is located in the UNK Fine Arts building.

According to Dr. Seth Fletcher, UNK low brass lecturer, the recital will consist of popular Christmas songs including “Angels We Have Heard on High,” “Deck the Halls,” “The First Noel,” “Joy to the World” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”

Registration for performers begins at 9 a.m. outside the Fine Arts Recital Hall. There will be a $5 registration fee for participants. A group warm-up is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.; rehearsal, at 10 a.m.

In addition, low brass Christmas carol books, hats and scarves will be available for purchase.
