The annual Holiday Walk for the Frank House will feature house tours and apple cider from 1:30-6 p.m. Tuesday – Saturday, Dec. 15-19.
The Frank House, located on the University of Nebraska at Kearney West Campus has been decorated in the traditional Victorian holiday style. Guests will have the opportunity to tour the Frank House and view 13 quilts provided by the Country Crossroads Quilt Guild. Free will donations will be accepted, and proceeds will go towards restoration projects of the historic mansion.
“All proceeds support our mission, to preserve and share the aesthetic and historic value of the Frank House,” said KrisAnn Sullivan, Frank House director. “Renovations are ongoing, and this year’s project is the west entrance and small rooms of the master bedchamber. Those who have seen these rooms in the past will be amazed at the transformation. The rooms have been stripped and plastered and are almost ready for finishing.”
The Frank House Holiday Walk first began in the 1970s and has since become an annual fund-raising event. The Friends of the Frank House, a volunteer group comprised of persons living in the Kearney community and surrounding area, decorated the Frank House in traditional Victorian style for the holidays.
“The purpose of this group is to promote the restoration and upkeep of the Frank House and its grounds through fund-raising and other means, to promote awareness of the House and to sponsor special events in support of the House,” said Margaret Brown of Kearney, Friends of the Frank House president.
