Informational meetings for a trip to Israel May 24 – June 6 are set for Friday, Oct. 16, and again on Wednesday, Oct. 21, on the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus.
The informational meetings will take place in Founders Hall, Room 2103. On Friday, the meeting will begin at 12:15 p.m.; on Wednesday, at 5 p.m. Leading the trip will be Dr. Maha Younes, UNK professor and chair of criminal justice and social work. Travelers will be able to attend lectures at Israeli universities; learn Israel’s model for health care, child welfare and criminal justice; hear the stories of Israeli and Palestinian people and their struggles; and visit the Holocaust Museum and the Israeli Knesset (parliament.)
In addition, participants will have the opportunity to tour the holy sites of the three religions, renew baptismal vows, worship with locals, and light candles at the Nativity church and at the Holy Sepulcher church. Participants will also experience the Mediterranean Sea, raft the Jordan River, sail the Sea of Galilee, float in the Dead Sea and ride a camel.
