Entrepreneur Teresa Kowalski Porter will present “Entrepreneurial Spirit…Got it? Get it!” on Friday, Oct. 16, at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
Kowalski Porter, named the 2009 UNK College of Business and Technology Distinguished Alum, will speak at 10 a.m. in the Ockinga Auditorium, which is in the Ockinga Seminar Center.
Kowalski Porter, president/chief executive officer (CEO), joined ISYS Technologies in 2002. ISYS Technologies is a services organization focusing on delivering services to the federal government and public sector. The company has more than 100 employees in six states. Her 29-year sales and management experience in the technology industry is diverse, and has included managing both small and large consulting organizations.
Beginning her career in accounting/finance, Kowalski Porter moved into sales and marketing, and eventually into the role of building, managing and growing technology-based organizations.
Since her tenure with ISYS, the organization has grown into a major competitor in the federal government market, specifically the Department of Defense. In 2008, ISYS was awarded two separate prime contracts with the Department of Energy National Renewable Energy Laboratory and a prime contract with the State of Colorado.
Recently, ISYS Technologies received the 2009 Small Business Association (SBA) Administrator’s Award of Excellence and was nominated for Small Business Subcontractor of the Year. Also, through the Missile Defense Agency, the company has a mentor-protégé agreement with Lockheed Martin IS&GS.
Kowalski Porter, who earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Kearney State College/UNK in 1980, currently lives in Littleton, Colo.
