29th Annual Great Plains Student Psychology Convention Set

Dr. William Wozniak
professor, Department of Psychology, 308.865.8242

More than 250 psychology faculty and students from Nebraska, Kansas, and Missouri will converge on the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus for the 29th Annual Great Plains Students’ Psychology Conference.

The conference will take place Friday and Saturday, March 13 and 14, and is coordinated by Dr. William Wozniak, UNK professor of psychology, with assistance from the UNK Psychology Club. The convention was founded at Emporia State University but has since expanded to include participants from the entire Midwest region.

“The event is organized much like other regional and national psychology conventions, but is oriented toward student research,” Dr. Wozniak said. “Students submit their research for review then qualify to present their findings during the convention.”

During the convention, more than 100 research papers will be presented as posters or oral presentations. On Friday, Dr. Kipling Williams of Purdue University will give a keynote address on his research. He will present data concerning the factors that lead to ostracism and the psychological effects of being ostracized. The convention will culminate with an awards luncheon on Saturday where the top papers and posters will be recognized.
