Directed by Jack Garrison, UNK associate professor of theatre history, “Three Sisters” is a drama about the decay of the privileged class and the search for meaning in a modern world. Written in 1900, the play was first produced in 1901. It is considered by many to be one of Chekhov’s major plays.
The story follows the lives of three sisters –Olga, Masha and Irina Prozorov — and their brother Andrei who were raised in Moscow but have been living for the last 11 years in a small, provincial town. After the death of their father, they make plans to return to Moscow with hopes of living the good life.
