Education students who will soon graduate from the University of Nebraska at
Kearney will have the opportunity to meet and interview with school systems from
around the nation on Tuesday, March 27.
The Educators Employment Fair will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the
second floor of the Nebraskan Student Union.
Diana Kircher, assistant director of Career Services, said she expects
65 to 70 school systems to attend the event. In addition to visiting school
systems from Nebraska, school representatives from Arizona, California,
Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Texas and Wyoming are also
expected to attend.
“The Educators Employment Fair provides an exceptional opportunity to meet
with several school system representatives all in one place,” Kircher said. “The school
systems attend the fair because they have hiring needs, so students should expect to
interview on-the-spot.”
Kircher said that approximately 225 UNK students and alumni attend
the event each year. The upcoming event will be the 30th Educators Employment Fair
to take place at the university.
The fair is meant specifically for teacher education students who will be seeking
employment following graduation.
Kircher said UNK students are not the only people invited to attend.
“Prospective teaching candidates from other universities and colleges are
invited to attend as well,” she said. “Also, education majors who have not yet student-taught
are encouraged to attend to see how this aspect of the hiring process is handled, as well
as to learn what areas have the greatest demand.”
Attending students are asked to dress professionally for the event, as well as
bring a resume, she said.
The Educators Employment Fair is free and open to all interested education students.
