The University of Nebraska at Kearney will hold its annual Spring Career and Graduate School Fair on Wednesday, Feb. 21, for students preparing to graduate college and enter the job market.
?
The fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the floor of the Nebraskan Student Union.
?
“We encourage all students to attend,” Nancy Kneen, director of career services, said. “Whether they are attending to gather information about a variety of career opportunities, search for an internship, find out about graduate school opportunities or search for a full-time professional position.”
?
Kneen said around 70 businesses, organizations and schools are expected to take part in the event.
?
Attending students are urged to dress appropriately for the event, as well as bring a resume.
?
“Students should expect to be invited for an interview the day of the event, the following day or within the two weeks following the fair,” she said.
?
The Career Fairs at UNK benefit not only students hoping to secure employment following graduation, but also the community, Kneen said.
?
”The Career Fairs are a win-win,” she said. “They help to establish a valuable connection between the talent of our students and the economic needs of the community and state.”
?
Many students who have attended Career Fairs in the past have been granted interviews with prospective employers.
?
“From our last four Career Fairs, we know that a little more than one-third of the candidates who attend are offered at least one interview,” she said. “Those are amazing odds, and show a much better response than applying for jobs over the internet or in a letter.”
?
The Spring Career and Graduate School Fair is free and open to all interested students.
