Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity at the University of Nebraska at Kearney recently raised more than $8,000 for the National Kidney Foundation of Nebraska through the annual Augie Nelson Golf Classic.

The golf classic took place at the Meadowlark Hills Golf Course in Kearney.

“This annual event is a chance for Sigma Phi Epsilon alumni to return to Kearney and help their fraternity give something back to the community that has given a lot to them,” said Grant Cambell of Tecumseh , vice president of communication for Sigma Tau Delta. “The alumni get to golf in the tournament, while the current members of the fraternity collect flag prizes and hole sponsorships from Kearney area businesses.”

“We’re just glad we can do our part to help a great cause,” said tournament chair Dusty Fread of Kearney . “The turnout this year was tremendous. By far, it’s one of our most successful.”

“The men of Sigma Phi Epsilon would like to publicly thank everyone who supported this tournament,” Cambell said.
