A series of musical performances by the Woodwind Choir, Brass Choir, Percussion Ensemble and Symphonic Band will comprise the University of Nebraska at Kearney Department of Music & Performing Arts Open House, which begins at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25.
The Woodwind Choir, conducted by Dr. Gary Davis, will be performing Franz Schubert’s Little Symphony for Winds. Dr. Davis will also conduct the Brass Choir’s performance of Theme and Variations, composed by Thomas Merrimann.
The Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Neal Schnoor, will play the first movement of Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. The arrangement is by Dr. Ron Crocker, a UNK music professor.
Dr. Schnoor will also conduct the Symphonic Band performing Puszta – FourGipsydances by Jan van der Roost; On a Hymnsong of Phillip Bliss by David Holsinger; and Poet and Peasant Overture by Franz von Suppe.
Featured performers will include Rebecca Gosnell of North Platte on saxophone and Dr. James Cook, UNK music professor, on piano.
The concert is free and open to the public.
