First place winner of the Financial Jeopardy game show, R.J. Gildea of Walton, worked with fellow Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) teammates to create fun, interactive activities during $mart Money Week activities at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
Financial Jeopardy, modeled after the television game show, featured host and SIFE team member Ryan Rodehorst of Kearney. Contestants and the organizations they represented included: Eric LeMunyan of Atkinson, Randall Hall; Alicia Mueller of Grand Island, College Republicans; Gildea, Pi Kappa Alpha; Dan Karr of Bladen, Finance Club; Darcy Tinney of Hershey, American Marketing Association; and Jamie Quenzar of Colby, Kan., Alpha Omicron Pi.
Gildea and Tinney were victorious in their first rounds and advanced to the finals. He was awarded an individual $150 cash prize as well as a $100 prize for his organization. Cash prizes were provided by ASAP Union Bank and Trust.
The SIFE team collaborated with Mary Sommers, UNK director of Financial Aid, to create a way for UNK students to demonstrate their financial knowledge by answering questions in five categories, including credit, investing, financial planning, banking and college financing.
