The University of Nebraska at Kearney chapter of the Gamma Phi Beta social sorority is sponsoring a taco feed on Tuesday, Dec. 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the University Residence North cafeteria on campus.

This event is the organization’s first event of the year, and they chose to make it a pre-game activity before the UNK women’s basketball team takes on the College of St. Mary that evening at 6 p.m.

Members of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority are selling tickets in advance, and tickets will be available at the door Tuesday night.

Lindsay Tanis, philanthropy chair for the organization, said that all of the proceeds from the event will go to Camp Fire USA, one of the nation’s leading not-for-profit organizations which helps provide funding for underprivileged youth to attend camps.

The mission of the organization, according to Tanis, is to build caring and confident youth and future leaders.

The event will consist of tacos and activities, which will include a pie throwing contest, pinata break, food walk and pin the tail on the pig.

“The pig is the Gamma Phi Beta mascot,” Tanis said.

The event is sponsored by the Gamma Phi Beta social sorority, and food will be provided by Chartwells.
