Staff Senate is pleased to announce that Joni Weed, Staff Secretary III in the Office of Career Services is our July
Employee of the Month.
Joni Weed has served as Secretary III in Career Services since 1987. Her role in providing opportunities and services for students, alumni and employers is an important one. Along with a full-range of office management duties, Joni’s primary role is to provide superior customer service in the coordination of on-campus interviews, job listings, resume referral services, employer information sessions, workshop/special event series calendar, and career fairs. Additionally Joni serves Career Services as our webmaster and supervises work-study students.
Employers and students alike often request to work specifically with Joni. She receives many compliments from employers who enjoy her out-going and friendly demeanor.

Joni serves as System Administrator for our NACElink Campus Interview system. UNK is among a handful of universities nation-wide to be invited to utilize this system at the highest service tier-the campus interview system. The system allows us to manage functions related to job postings, on-line resume referrals, employer and candidate databases, and on-campus interviews. Joni is the only System Administrator who isn’t a “managerial level” employee. Joni was responsible for overseeing the tedious and detailed conversion process from a previous system. She completed system administrator training which included giving designers ideas for customization and necessary user tools. Joni then developed and trained Career Services staff on use of the system.
Joni is known in the Division of Student Life as an individual who is always ready to lend assistance. She is a team player and is willing to do whatever is needed to get a job done.
Joni looks for ways to improve services. She shares her talents and commitment to UNK by serving on Staff Senate where she co-chairs the Employee Recognition Committee and also serves on the Mentoring committee. Joni is active in Student Life by serving on the Professional Development Committee. Joni was recently recognized by the Division of Student Life for her contributions in assisting with the coordination of the very successful 1st Annual Career Fair sponsored by Career Services.
