CHANCELLOR’S AMBASSADORS ANNOUNCED FOR 2004-2005 AT UNK

Fourteen University of Nebraska at Kearney students have been selected to serve as the Chancellor’s Ambassadors for 2004-2005.

According to Sharon Pelc, director of the Nebraskan Student Union, the Ambassadors is a leadership group whose members host UNK functions. They also serve as campus guides for foreign diplomats, celebrities, alumni or government officials who may visit the campus.

Ambassadors are chosen based on their involvement in campus activities, academic achievement, leadership ability, knowledge of UNK and communication skills. After they are selected, Ambassadors are given training in etiquette, campus history and other topics.

The newly selected Ambassadors are listed alphabetically by hometown:

Aurora – Elizabeth Obermeier, an international studies and business administration major. She is active in student government and a member of the Honors Program.

Beatrice – Thomas McCarty, a political science major. He is a senator for the College of Natural and Social Sciences.

Chadron – Anne Drinkwalter, a business administration and political science major. She is involved in student government and the Honors Program.

          Craig – Michelle McGeorge, a secondary education major. She has held the position of student body president and student regent.

          Grand Island – Katherine Frost, a comprehensive chemistry and molecular biology major. She has also served as a UNK Diplomat and is a member of the Alpha Phi social sorority.

Kearney – Kelly O’Connor, a broadcast journalism major. He is the recruitment chairman for Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and vice president of the Leadership Development Council.

Lexington – Ely Colindres, a business administration major. She is a student senator and a member of the Hispanic Student Association.

          Omaha – Jeffrey Kenney, an art education major. He is the president of the UNK Art Society.

Palisade – Brian Britten, a computer information systems major. He will serve as assistant coordinator of the Student Ambassadors.

Wayne – Jeff Ensz, a political science major. He will be serve as coordinator for the Ambassadors.

INDIANA
Mishawaka – Erin Kochenderfer, a business administration major. She is the president of the Residence Hall association and the Honors Program.

WYOMING
Casper – Josh Tolin, a political science major. He is a member of the UNK wrestling team and president of the UNK chapter of Hillel.

Cody – Laura Emmerich, a chemistry and molecular biology major. She is on the cross-country track team and part of the Honors Program.

NEPAL
Kathmandu – Sunu Shrestha, a computer information systems and business administration major. She is also the secretary for the International Student Association.
