Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity Inc. was officially colonized on the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus this past weekend, according to Juan Izaguirre, Midwest District Governor of Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity, Inc.

The five UNK students who are charter members include:
Grand Island- Manuel Andazola and Juan Carlos Guzma
          Kearney- Eddie Quintana
Lexington- Mike Chavez and Roberto Montiel.

“I am thrilled these fine men have met the requirements to be an official colony of Sigma Lambda Beta at UNK,” said Cami Wacker, assistant director of Residential and Greek Life. “Sigma Lambda Beta is a wonderful addition to our campus and Greek Community at UNK.” .

According to Izaguirre, Sigma Lambda Beta is a historically Latino-based fraternity with open membership for all men. It was founded on April 4, 1986 at the University of Iowa by 18 founding fathers and has since grown to more than 90 entities across the country; even reaching the shores of Puerto Rico.

Sigma Lambda Beta is the first Latino-based fraternity to be established on the UNK campus and joins the chapters already established at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
