University of Nebraska at Kearney senior Vicky DeWald of Holdrege and assistant professor of Theatre Janice Fronczak received awards at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival(KCACTF) held in Cedar Falls, Iowa, in late January.
DeWald won first prize for Region V (eight states) for Stage Management for her prompt book for the UNK production of Into the Woods.
Fronczak was awarded a National Fellowship as Faculty Director to go to the Kennedy Center to represent Region V for KCACTF. From April 14-21, Fronczak will be mentoring two student directors from the nation who will be directing two of the winning ten-minute plays at the Kennedy Center. Fronczak also won a Meritorious Award for Directing for Innovations produced by her in September of 2002. While at the KCACTF Festival, she was a preliminary judge for the Irene Acting Scholarship Contest and directed a winning ten-minute play. Fronczak received her Master of Fine Arts in Theatre at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va.
