Applications due for Phi Kappa Phi’s Graduate Fellowship, Study Abroad and Internship Programs

Application forms for the University of Nebraska at Kearney, Phi Kappa Phi Graduate Fellowship Program are due February 10, 2003, in Copeland Hall room 101C. The deadline for the Phi Kappa Phi’s Internship and Study Abroad Grants are due February 17 to the PKP national office.

“Phi Kappa Phi is the oldest, largest and most selective honor society that recognizes and promotes academic excellence in all disciplines,” said Dr. Frank Harrold, Dean of Natural and Social Sciences. “PKP’s Graduate Fellowship Program annually awards 52 Fellowships of $8,000 each and 30 Awards of Excellence of $1500 each on a competitive basis for first-year study at a graduate or professional school.”

UNK’s Phi Kappa Phi chapter will nominate one senior from UNK’s chapter for a chance to win one of the national Fellowship scholarships. Applications may be picked up in Dr. Harrold’s office, Copeland Hall room 101, or can be downloaded from the Phi Kappa Phi website at www.phikappaphi.org.
To be eligible for the Graduate Fellowship Program the student needs to have been initiated into the program last fall or have been selected for the spring initiation to occur on March 14. The application process involves a personal statement from the student and college transcripts.

Competition for the 2003-2004 Internship and Study Abroad Grants are open to both members and non-members of Phi Kappa Phi in all fields of study. Four grants of $1,000 each will be given in each of Phi Kappa Phi’s five regions.
Applicants should have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and have earned a minimum of 56 semester hours of academic credit but not more than 90 credit hours at the time of application. Applicants should have at least one full year remaining in their academic program after participating in their internship/study abroad.
