A marketing student from the University of Nebraska at Kearney was one of three students from the United States selected to attend the Direct Marketing Conference in San Francisco, held in October. Ashley Soles, junior from Ainsworth, attended the marketing conference where she was paired with a mentor and assigned the task of entering the professional world as a pharmaceutical sales representative for several days.
Jerry Hawkins, a member of the Operating Committee of the Direct Marketing Association B2B (Business to Business) Special Interest Council was her mentor.
During the conference and as a part of the Business to Business organization, Soles was a pharmaceutical rep responsible for querying vendors and developing a paper recommending a course of action to her company. Part of the goal of this project was to allow Soles to have direct access to the business environment, a chance to develop business skills and increase her awareness of the B2B market.
