Does seeing a wrecked car help college students drive more responsibly after a night of drinking? The University of Nebraska at Kearney’s Peer Health Education office has high hopes that the answer is yes.

As part of UNK’s Alcohol Awareness week which was October 20-26, which occurred over fall break, UNK’s Counseling Center will display a wrecked blazer on east and west campus the next two weeks. Heidi Lammers, Coordinator of Peer Health Education, said “We hope this display will give students a visual image and help them realize that driving while impaired can be deadly.”

The car’s presence will be advertised with the thought: 73% of college students use a designated driver when they party or socialize. Are you in the majority?
