The Japanese Association at Kearney (JAK) at the University of Nebraska at Kearney will host Matsuri 2002 on October 2 from 5:00-8:30 p.m. between Ludden and Copeland Halls on the UNK campus.
“Matsuri means festival in Japanese and this festival will provide UNK students and the Kearney community with information about us [Japanese students] and our culture,” said JAK Public Relations Officer Yasuyo Shikano. “We will be providing free Japanese food such as ‘Okonomi-yaki’ which is Japanese pizza, ‘Udon’ which is Japanese soup with noodles, and other kinds of Japanese food.”
Matsuri 2002 will also feature live pop and rock music, Hip-hop dance performances, and a skit based on a traditional Japanese story entitled “Momomusha”.
UNK students and the Kearney public are invited to attend this free event.
