Students Win Merit Award

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) student organization at the University of Nebraska at Kearney recently received the Merit Award for 2000-2001 from the national SHRM headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia.

The award is based on points the chapter received for various growth and development opportunities undertaken to benefit chapter members. The members helped with events such as Kidz Explore and job fairs. The group had to earn over 1500 points to earn the Merit Award. There are 380 student organizations of SHRM with 102 of them receiving awards from the national headquarters.

The 2000-2001 co-presidents of the UNK Society for Human Resource Management student organization were Jeff Jones, of Lexington and Corinee Irvin, of Phillipsburg, KS. Faculty advisors were Kay Hodge, Kyle Luthans and David Palmer.
