Community reception and picnic sponsored by the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce University Relations Committee to welcome UNK’s new Japanese students to the Kearney community. The students have come through a National Collegiate Network (NCN) program. NCN brings Japanese high school graduates to the United States to study in a four-year bachelor degree program under the supervision of Japanese-speaking counselors. The new students are able to read English. They are taking 12 weeks of intensive English classes this summer before beginning regular classes in the fall.
