John Frates, Superintendent of the South Platte Public Schools, and Tim O’Dea, Superintendent of the Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center, were presented with the annual UNKLES award at the University of Nebraska at Kearney College of Education’s Honors Night on May 3.
UNKLES is an acronym for University of Nebraska Kearney Leaders in Educational Service. The award is given by the Department of Educational Administration to program graduates who have distinguished themselves by service in their local communities, participation in professional organizations and leadership in school administration.
Frates received three degrees from UNK, graduating with an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Administration in 1984. O’Dea also received three degrees from UNK, graduating from the EDAD Specialist Degree program in 1985.
