UNK-The University of Nebraska at Kearney will hold informational meetings in Grand Island, Hastings, and Columbus for those interested in the accelerated MBA program at College Park in Grand Island, beginning fall 2001.
“With the accelerated MBA, the majority of the courses are offered in an eight-week format with classes meeting Tuesday evenings and alternate Saturdays. UNK faculty members teach the classes on-site in Grand Island,” said Gloria Vavricka, director of Academic Programs for UNK’s Division of Continuing Education.
The informational sessions are being held to explain the programs. Dr. John Sneed, UNK MBA director, will present information and will be available to answer questions. The sessions are in:
Grand Island – Wednesday, Nov. 1,at 5:30 p.m. at College Park, 3180 West Highway 34.
Hastings – Monday, Nov. 6, at 5:30 p.m. at the Hastings Public Library, 515 W. Fourth St.
Columbus – Thursday, Nov. 9, at 5:30 p.m. at Platte Campus, CCC, 4500 63rd St., West Education Center, Room 204.
“Although we are offering our first classes in the sequence beginning in the fall of 2001, we want to give prospective MBA students an opportunity to take any necessary prerequisites they may need during the coming spring semester,” Dr. Sneed said.
“Classes are offered in the eight-week format to make it more convenient for people to maintain their current jobs while continuing their education,” he said. “We’ve found that students like the accelerated format, because they can concentrate on one course at a time. Those who begin the accelerated MBA degree in the fall of 2001 can complete their degree by May 2004.”
“The MBA may open many doors of opportunity as it provides graduates with a broad-based background across functional areas,” Dr. Sneed said. “UNK MBA graduates have been sought by business organizations of all sizes and types as well as governmental agencies. A number of MBA graduates have also chosen to start their own businesses,” he added.
