UNK– The Department of Music and Performing Arts at the University of Nebraska at Kearney opens its 2000-2001 season with the touching drama, Defying Gravity, by Jane Anderson. The production runs September 28- October 8 in the Studio Theatre of the UNK Fine Arts Building. Performances are Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Seating is limited and advance reservations are recommended. Tickets for each performance are for the general public with discounts available for students, seniors, and UNK faculty/staff. UNK students will receive one complimentary ticket with a valid UNK ID. Tickets may be reserved through the UNK Theatre Box Office, (308) 865-8417 or via e-mail to boxoffice@unk.edu. Box Office hours are Monday through Friday 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 1 hour prior to each curtain. Due to mature language and subject matter, this production is recommended for ages 12 and up.
Defying Gravity examines the lives of those individuals involved in the tragic NASA Challenger flight that exploded seconds after liftoff on January 28, 1986. Defying Gravity is an inspiring drama about the resiliency of the human spirit in face of tragic loss.
