UNK Talks allow students to showcase civic engagement projects

KEARNEY – University of Nebraska at Kearney students are invited to present their civic engagement projects during UNK Talks April 7.

Organized by the UNK American Democracy Project, UNK Talks were inspired by TED Talks, the popular series of influential videos from expert speakers on education, business, science, tech and creativity.

UNK Talks gives students the opportunity to share their thoughts on topics related to civic engagement in action.

Topics could include political engagement, actions in government agencies, advocacy organizations, global climate change, democracy in education, cultural literacy, sustainability, social entrepreneurship, global trade and theater and art affecting change.

Students present their projects for eight to 12 minutes followed by three to five minutes of answering questions in front of a panel of judges.

The top five presenters will win 0. The best out of five will be awarded an additional 0.

Proposals are due by midnight March 30. Presentations will be from noon to 2:30 p.m. April 7 in the Ockinga Auditorium.
