REYNOLDS WRITERS AND READERS SERIES TO PRESENT POET JOHN MONTAGUE AND NOVELIST ELIZABETH WASSELL

Poet John Montague and novelist Elizabeth Wassell will be at the University of Nebraska at Kearney for the Reynolds Writers and Readers Series on April 26 at 8 p.m. in Copeland Hall, room 142.

Montague, a native of Ireland, is a retired professor of English at University College, Cork, and recently has been Distinguished Professor in the New York State Writers’ Program at SUNY/Albany. In 1998, he was named the first “Irish Professor of Poetry,” a three-year appointment to be divided among Queen’s University in Belfast, Trinity College Dublin, and University College Dublin. Montague has been called “the best Irish poet of his generation,” and have received numerous awards.

Wassell has worked as a restaurant critic, a barmaid, an English lecturer and a public relations writer. Having traveled and lived extensively in Europe, she has now settled in West Cork. While she has published in various magazines, the Honey Plain is her first novel.

The Reynolds Writers and Readers Series is open to the public free of charge. A book signing and reception will follow each reading. The Reynolds Writers and Readers Series is sponsored by the UNK Creative Writing Program and the UNK English Department.
