Small business owners can learn ways to partner with colleges and universities to create and market new technologies at a presentation set for noon Friday, Feb. 2, at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.Jean Waters, a Small Business Innovation and Research (SBIR) grant program consultant with the Nebraska Business Development Center, will explain ways that businesses can team up with colleges and universities. The presentation will take place during a brown-bag luncheon in Room 310 of the UNK Nebraskan Student Union.
The event is free and open to the public, and attendees can bring their own lunch or purchase a meal in the food court of the Student Union.
According to John Falconer, director of UNK Sponsored Programs, the SBIR grant program is a “mechanism used by federal granting agencies to fund collaborations between small businesses and higher education to develop and commercialize new technologies.”
Waters will explain the program and how small businesses from the Kearney area can take advantage of the grant’s funding.
Those with questions regarding the program, or who need a parking pass for the event, can contact the Office of Sponsored Programs at 308.865.8496. Requests for parking passes must be made by Jan. 29.
