UNK- On Nov. 9, 2000, the UNK Political Science Department will be presenting Senator Jerome Warner Evening beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Alumni House. There will be a light picnic supper and informal conversation from 5:30 p.m.- 7 p.m. The topic for the evening will be “Environmentalism and Public Lands.” Participating in the evening will be Debra L. Donahue, Professor of Law, University of Wyoming, David Aiken, Professor of Agricultural Economics and Water Law Specialist, University of Nebraska at Lincoln, and Jack Maddux, Nebraska Rancher. “The Senator Jerome Warner Evening is a chance to focus on issues that are of significance in Nebraska politics. It also provides a chance for a lively discussion of public policy action to deal with these issues,” UNK Political Science Chair James Scott said. After the gathering at the Alumni House, there will be a public discussion on the UNK campus in Copeland Hall, room 142, at 7:30 p.m.
The Norris Scholarship Luncheon will take place on Nov. 10 at UNK in the Nebraskan Student Union Ponderosa Room at 12 p.m. The luncheon will feature Kim Robak, University of Nebraska Vice President for External Affairs and Corporation Secretary. She will be speaking on the topic of “Politics of Higher Education.” “Given the significance of education in society today, I think it is a timely topic,” Scott said.
